Museum Sunday

The first Sunday of every month the History of Museum and the Mesa Arts Center has free admission.  We missed it last month and this month we had a light work schedule so off to the museum we go.  The history museum was nicely done and interesting.  Meteorites, dinosaurs, pottery, the original jail, mining and lots and lots of very excited loud children.  Even still we did learn a few things.

Arizona State Flag
The top half of the flag represents the 13 original colonies of the United States and the western setting sun. The copper star in the center of the flag identifies Arizona as the largest copper producing state in the union.
The lower half of the flag is a field of blue, the same Liberty Blue found in the United States' Flag. The red found in the rays of the setting sun is also the same shade of red found in the United States' Flag. The Blue of the lower half of the flag and the yellow of the western setting sun are the Arizona State Colors.

Arizona's 5 C's

OK on to the Mesa Arts Center.  We had recently seen a morning show about Nathan Sawaya doing a Lego display in New York and here he was in Mesa.

It is amazing what this guy can do with Legos.  The pictures on the wall and the Peace sign are Legos as well as the motorcycle.

None of these motorcycles are ride able but are instead an amazing piece of art work.

                                                                       The Shell Bike

This bike is totally encrusted with different kinds of shells.  That's alot of Elmer's glue.

The artwork is done in paint and sharpies.

                                                                        The Heart Bike

Really Awesome stuff.

Also on display was art made from motorcycle gas tanks.

This one is for my Flamingo Sisters!

Will this man ever grow up!  No honey you can't have one, sorry.

The Gypsy King stays busy researching places to go metal detecting and panning for gold.  He has joined the Superstition West Treasure Hunters (local club) and the Gold Prospectors Association of America http://www.goldprospectors.org/.  I have been busy cleaning my computer of photos, documents, video, websites and stuff.  I bought a portable external hard drive this past summer and have finally put it to use.  My next project is to get my IPod up and running.  Which brings another project of going through all the Cd's first, ripping them and then backing them up on the hard drive, then downloading to the IPod which I don't know how to do at this point.  I have about 30 Cd's ripped already but haven't set up my I tunes account yet. All this and keeping up with the blog. And people say what are you going to do with all of your time!  I have been doing more cooking trying different recipes in an attempt to get my small collection of cookbooks and recipes that I kept in order. So you see once you start purging it becomes a way of life.  I want things simple.  But of course there is always time to go to the thrift store.  My recent purchase is a like new Fossil purse for $10, it looks like it has never been carried.  Bought new would have cost at least $150 dollars.

                                                                   I just love a deal!!!

  1. Never enough hours in a day, are there? The recipe/cd/old pic purging creates more mental space, always a good thing!

Just keep ripping, Sistah. When you plug in your ipod, it will send the music without your input. Computers. Made for everyone to use! Just be ready for itunes to update about twice a week...

The Pensacola scene is not good. We're moving west next week to N'awleans, stopping in Mobile to eat at Michaels downtown cafe. We have to wait for the fender skirt to arrive for the Cottage, which Stuart HAD to order after he trashed the original one!
love and big, colored lights, k
