Summer 2019 Bracey VA

We left Leland NC and headed to JC Cooper Campground in Henderson NC at Kerr Lake.  There are several campgrounds around Kerr Lake both on the NC side and the VA side.  We scored a huge site (102) with views of the lake and the satellite even came in.

Left from here and setup at Americamps in Bracey VA where my Aunt Ruthie lives for the summer.

In the past I have always rented a carpet cleaner to do my carpet, but this winter I bought my own cleaner and was very pleased with it so I thought I would share with you all.

As always Mark's business keeps him busy and we have settled into a routine.  I'm spending as much time as I can with my Aunt Ruthie who is 83 years young and a hoot.  We both enjoy playing Bingo!

Took a tour of the oldest  georgian plantation in VA located in Clarksville.
Prestwould plantation was built in 1797 for Sir Peyton Skipwith on the north side of the Roanoke River and originally sat on 10,000 acres.

After the tour we check out the local brewery in Clarksville,
call Buggs Island Brewing.  Tasty beer!

It was so nice to be able to setup my lapidary work station on the deck and enjoy the beautiful weather.

My girlfriend Tammy Waters came for a visit.  It had been 4 years since we went to the Rosemount Winery! The weather was super hot the day we went to the Arts Festival in Clarksville, I mean triple digits, so the smart thing to do was go to the brewery and enjoy a few cold ones.  Back in Bracey we enjoyed a few more at Flip Flops bar and marina on the lake, this is a really cool local watering hole.
And of course we had to visit Aunt Ruthie.

Mark being the grill master.

Our friends Lori and Greg Rooker always come to visit us when we are here and that means another visit to the winery!

We went back home for Kinzies 2nd birthday.
Such a fun day with the family and the kids had a blast!

This year will be our 30th wedding anniversary and we want to spend it in the New England states this fall.  We didn't want to take our rig as we knew there would be a problem getting into some of the campgrounds so instead of staying in hotels we decided to buy a small travel trailer.

Introducing "The GetAway".

It's an 18' Zinger Lite that we can tow behind the Tahoe.
I did some remodeling to make it bright and cheery!

We also bought electric bikes!
You can peddle or not peddle and let the motor kick in and ake off!  They will go 23 mph and last 25-50 miles on a charge dependinng on how much you peddle. They fol in half and fit in the back of the Tahoe, check them out at Lectricebikes.com

Thanks for following our travels!
