New Bern NC KOA Campground

New Bern KOA campground is located on the Neuse River just minutes from downtown New Bern, NC.  They offer free wireless Internet, pool, a fishing pier and boat ramp, kayak & paddle boat rentals, clubhouse, outdoor movies, boat dock and ramp and more.  We had a campsite with a patio which was very nice.  The restrooms are clean, the laundry was as well with folding stations and TV (laundry facilities are now very important to me).  It is a well kept campground with friendly staff but a bit costly.   I rate campgrounds from 1 to 5, my rating has nothing to do with price, more with how well kept it is, shade trees, facilities and whats important to me.  I give it a 4.

New Bern is the birthplace of Pepsi, the second oldest city in NC and the first state capital.

Tryon Palace is a state historic sight worth visiting while in New Bern.  It is rich in some very interesting history that can be found at the following link  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tryon_Palace

On Friday the club sponsored wings and the ladies brought all kinds of side dishes, as always it was a feast.  Mark, Andre and Ivy were the Wing Chefs all creating a different flavor to tease the taste bids.

Jack Daniels helped too!

Thanks Christo for the use of your grill.  And speaking of grills, this would have been a great advertisement for Weber Grills, there was 4 different models.

And of course Ivy's charcoal

If anyone left that night without a full belly it was there own fault.

Walt provided Karoke at his campsite which everyone enjoyed.

Our true first day on the road was a good one.
