2 Weeks at Amazon & We Quit

Yes that's right, we Quit
OK let me explain:

After the second 50 hr week both of us were developing tennis elbow, our hands were going numb and our feet hurt, plus it was getting colder.  We knew it would get cold but didn't think the weather would turn so quick.  We started to second guess our decision to work for Amazon.  Neither one of us was happy but we wouldn't admit it as we had made a commitment and we stick to our word.  But you basically have no life other than Amazon.  When we would get home at 4:30 in the morning but couldn't go right to sleep because we were to wound up.  I would have 2 glasses of red wine and then we would pop a Melatonin and go to bed around 6.  Wake up at 1 or 2 in the afternoon and have to be to work at 6, doesn't leave much time for anything let alone socializing.  On your 2 days off we would do laundry and run some errands.  Yes the money was good but not worth it to us.  Our campground did have one potluck but we didn't go because we were too tried.  Now I wouldn't call myself a "Social Butterfly" but I do like being social.  In a typical campground setting you are outside alot grilling, walking around and saying hi to folks.  I think we grilled one time as it got to cold to be outside.  If you worked days you wouldn't see the sun with the time change coming up soon except for your days off.  Oh yeah, did I mention that it was cold.  I commend the folks that stick it out and wish you well.

We had planned to work one more week and then quit.  In the mean time I starting doing some research on Workamper News and sent out our resume to some resorts in AZ.  It was our thought that if we were going to work some where it might as well have amenities and activities.  Well on Wednesday I got a phone call and we were offered a job in Mesa at Val-Vista Village (a Cal-am Resort).  All we have to work is 25 hrs combined for our spot which includes electric.  We told them we could be there on Tuesday, so we headed over to Amazon to tell them "we quit".  They really didn't seem fazed as I am sure they have a high turn over rate.  6 couples had already left.  Yeah, time to celebrate!  Mexican food and margaritas, then over to the Moose to tell everyone good bye.  Dave told us to stop by their house which was on the way to the campground so we could say goodbye to Terry (The Bud Light Girl), we did and we had a good time, Thanks again Dave & Terry Woods.  You never know where our paths my cross again.

Pulling out tomorrow headed to Kingman, AZ to visit our friends Danny & Terry Baker, then on to Mesa.  Sunshine and warm weather here we come!
