Buckboard Crossing - Green River, WY

What a beautiful trip we had today!  The country side is always changing to delight the observers eye.

You will see tons of these snow fences along the interstate.  That's alot of 2x4's and did I mention that I don't want to be here in the winter, Burrrrr.

You should know by now that I am taken back by the Wind Farms, the sight of hundreds of them was awesome.  What a nice surprise and to know that I have seen one of the largest farms in the West.

OK I promise no more pictures of Wind Farms, but aren't they just the coolest thing?

When we stopped at Wagonhound rest area we got talking with a gentleman and he told us of an accident farther up the road.  Earlier we had seen a patrolman go screaming by us so that's where he must have been headed.  Anyway, somebody lost control or fell a sleep at the wheel, crossed over the median and wiped out.  They were in a rental truck that was packed but now their belongings were all over the highway and the truck didn't look so good.  Hopefully no one was hurt.  Glad we were headed west as the eastbound side was backed up for miles.

                                                               On to Green River...

Buckboard Crossing is south of Green River and I knew we were getting close when I saw the lake.

As we drove into the campground we had to wait for a herd of antelopes to cross the road.
We were the only one there except for another couple.  The campground closes the 15th of Oct, even the host had left.  Yeah, we get it all to ourselves.

There isn't much shade so there are these cabanas which I we thought were the greatest along with a picnic table and fire ring.  I dug out my Christmas lights and strung them on the cabana, Home Sweet Home (A-33).  There are only 8 sites with electric and there is no water/sewer hookups, not a problem for us. My Genius husband rigged up this pump.  You can get one at any RV store, of course they don't come with the tubing, switch or extra wire, go figure.  Plus the added benefit of having another pump is the fact that if yours goes out you will have a replacement.  Murphy's law-if something goes wrong you will never be 5 miles from Camping World, just saying.

Hook it up to your batteries

Turn on the switch and you can pump 6gallons of water in 3 minutes.  We got the water jugs at Wally World.  The campground has a water filling station as well as a dump station but Mark was dying to try out his new setup and he figured carrying the water jugs was a good workout.
  Good job Sweetie!

After getting settled in we walked the CG looking for firewood and checking out the facilities.  The B loop was already closed as well as the showers but the bathrooms on A loop were still open and I am happy to report they were clean and maintained.  The rate is $20 a day for electric.  There is also another CG right next to this one, Buckboard Marina, it is privately owned and there is a camp store along with the marina.

We did find enough firewood for a fire and invited the other couple over to enjoy it with us.  What a nice day!

I'll leave you with this

Cheyenne, WY

We had a good ride into Cheyenne stopping at the Moose Lodge as they had hookups. We went in and had a few beers and learned they charge $15 to stay. This lovely lady that we started a conversation with told us about Terry Bison Ranch. They had a good restaurant, trail rides, train rides etc, so we decided to stay there instead. We got a site and headed to the Senators Restaurant, very cool place in side and with the waitresses help we ordered a Buffalo burger and chili. A very good decision and found out later that their burgers were voted the best in 2009 by Bobby Flay and the food network channel. I have to say it was good! We also met a nice couple that was camping as well and they told us that they were doing Karaoke on Thursday, it's a date, we will be there.

The next day we had to go to Fort Collins CO to do a pee test for Amazon. As we drove into town we passed the Budweiser Brewery and said we had to stop there after we did the test and had lunch. There is also the Fat Tire Brewery there but they are booked months in advance for tours, so on to Budweiser.
We arrived a few minutes before the next tour so we sat out on the patio which was beautiful, the flowers were just glorious.

After prohibition was lifted Budweiser showed up at the White House with a wagon like this being pulled by 6 horses delivering beer.  Later they added 2 more horses to the team as they thought it was more impressive then 6.

Fermenting Room

Bottles coming down the line to be filled

                                                              Worker loading can lids.

Beachwood is used in fermenting so the yeast has something to grow on.

                                                              That's alot of beer!
The best part about the tour is once you are done you get 2 free beers of your choice to enjoy in their bar, Bottoms Up...

We have been pushing it so Thursday was a chill day before Karaoke.  At the ranch there is of course

                                                                            Buffalo

You can also find Camels, yes Camels.

OK time for some Karaoke.  The staff was really excited about it and sang their hearts out.

And yes with some help from Jack Daniels we even sang.  You don't need to worry about seeing our names in lights.

Thank you Sue and Dave for providing great entertainment.  We had a good time and enjoyed meeting you.                                                        Happy Trails to you both.

As for the campground it was OK but don't know that we would stay there again.  It was off season and things had slowed down.  The gravel sites were level with full hookup but nothing special.  The best part was that you could walk to the restaurant.  I am sure it probably is hoping in the summer months.

                                                           On to Flaming Gorge, WY...
